What are some of your favorite memories during the holidays? What traditions do you follow? And what are some holiday experiences you've had, even just recently?

Share these kinds of Happy Holiday stuff here. This will totally lose some steam by the time the season's over huh?

My family loves Christmas music, so we will be listening to it around Thanksgiving, and sometimes as far in as July... XD Also, my family has a tradition where one were done unwrapping gifts at family parties, we roll up the wrapping paper into balls and throw it at each other... I've no idea who started it, but it's become a tradition ever since... A couple people have even done it other people's parties, much to their confusion...

Another tradition is a huge Christmas Eve Dinner with my mom's side... And then, a party with my dad's side of the family on Christmas Day... I no longer go to that party though, because I've grown distant from them...

Also, a tradition that went on for about 30 years, but no longer does was something that we like to call Family Club. All of the woman in my family would get together at someone's house and decide to go against each other. They would compete in a card game called Keepaway. The host call a number and each person would have a hand of cards. If your number was called, you got to pick a gift from the table. When no gifts were left but numbers could still be called, then people could still gifts from others. There was also a rare gift called The Blob that was considered special, so if you got The Blob, you are basically considered the winner.

The fun thing about this tradition was that the gifts were very funny intentionally, and was meant to add to the humorous nature of the game. For example, one year, The Blob was Billy the Singing Bass! Having Thin Mints as the present is also pretty common. And after all the gifts were opened, people could exchange them. After that, there was the more traditional giftgiving with proper Christmas gifts, but some people even exchanged those anyway. :)

For me, my family used to host Christmas at our house. My mom would cook the most delicious food, and also cookies. We had a pool table that we used as a regular table, and we also had our actual dining room table and the kitchen table. The kids always sat in the kitchen.

But eventually, my WAY older brother (and not the one I complain about) took over the tradition. So we go there every year, and play Just Dance on their Xbox.

We play multiplayer games too.

And every year, my dad buys our family several Disney ornaments, and they range from Peter Pan to Big Hero 6 to Star Wars. So we have a lot at home.

If this is about travels... well, since 1995 I used to travel to Spain pretty much: 1995-1997 Tenerife, 1999 Malaga/Fuengirola, 2000 Mallorca, 2001 Benalmadena/Calahonda, 2005 (IIRC) Tenerife again. And in 2008 I've been to Madeira, Portugal. These trips were with my family.

On my own, I first travelled to Latvia (Riga & Venstpils) in 2007 and 2009, in 2011 I was in Italy (Genoa/Rapallo/Lavagna), then in 2012 I embarked on a bus trip across Northern Europe: Finland, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Lithuania, Latvia, in 2013 kinda repeated it on a similar route, and in 2014 travelled to Belgium (via Latvia) again, but by plane this time. In 2015 I went to the Netherlands twice (Amsterdam and Rotterdam), in 2017 I was there again (Oirschot/Tilburg/Amsterdam), then again in 2019 (Eindhoven/Tilburg/Rotterdam/The Hague/Amsterdam) and on my way back spent two days in Budapest, Hungary. Also in 2017 I travelled to Genoa, Italy, again, also spent a weekend there in 2019. Between all these travels some short trips to Latvia took place, I've lost track of them to be honest. Oh, also there was a family trip to Turkey (Antalya/Side) in 2018.

Speaking of travel plans... I don't know now. In 2020 we had plans with my foreign friends to meet in the UK, I even managed to acquire British visa and had the plane ticket in my pocket, but then damned COVID pandemic happened. Nowadays circumstances have changed so this meeting is very unlikely to happen. Also now, as the COVID limitations are being lifted, political situation has sunken into complete shit so I cannot go practically anywhere.

Oh Japan is awesome! I still much prefer European countries (for the history side of things) but Japan is just mental haha

You’ll love it! Full on mental haha.

Just avoid the anime porn alleyways in Tokyo lol. Things get a bit weird there!

Oh, I know they’re around, ahah. Kinda interested to see and experience “the forbidden lands.” Haha.
