Administrator AquilaTempestas Posted August 19 Administrator Report Share Posted August 19 Ireland. England. Scotland. Wales. Have you been? Where did you go? If you haven't been, where would you like to go? I've been twice now. First trip was a big trip around key places around the UK. Second time was a stop at London. I know we have a lot of UK folks around so enlighten us all - where are the must go places? @Stubborn Saber @Lady Mechanika @Nocturna @Exelior Quote Link to comment
Dementor
It's in my bucket list. London, Sherlock Holmes' quarters, the Tower Bridge, Big Ben, King's Cross (and Platform 9¾)... and Stonehenge. And Wychwood & St. Peter's breweries. I've almost made it there. Almost. I have a friend in the UK, and he used to date that Malaysian girl who's my best friend now. In 2020 we planned a hangout at his place: his family would leave to Europe, meanwhile I and that girl would come and stay for a week and something. My friend wrote me an invitation letter so I managed to acquire the UK visa (which is a REAL quest, I need to say!), and found a very cheap flight from Moscow to London. Everything seemed fine... Until the fucking pandemic lockdown happened. At least WizzAir refunded the ticket... So now this is very unlikely to happen. My 6-month visa has expired unused, with that guy we aren't that close these days, and he and my bestie broke up after being together for 10+ years. Not to mention (again) the whole political bullshit going on in this stupid world. So I don't know if I'll ever be there. But I was so close... Quote Link to comment

Scotland had a shite weather even in the middle of summer. I didn't see much of Wales outside Cardiff but it was okay. Lots of gypsies though. Some parts of England were pretty okay though - I did like Chester and York. Hated Liverpool except for the big cathedral. Quote Link to comment
Board Moderator Nirianne Posted November 15 Board Moderator Report Share Posted November 15 I stayed in Whitby for a month or so. It's a nice seaside town but there's not much else to it other than the sea and fish and chips. So many 'award winning' fish and chips ahaha. During peak summer, Whitby is packed with tourists who come and frolic in the sea. Brrr. Edinburgh was my kind of place. Lots of architecture and the city was buzzing with life. Would love to work there some day. I wish I could have stayed and explored longer. Managed to book tickets to Edinburgh Castle which I enjoyed traversing and checking out the panoramic view of the city. I briefly visited York and it felt like my kind of city. It's full of students which made me feel really old but the architecture itself is stunning. I would like to stay in London a bit longer. You know, fully explore the British Museum (saw a bit), Natural History museum, Tower of London, Parliament, Big Ben, the Shard, etc. So much to seeeeeee but no money to do it RipplingLocust and Dementor 1 1 Quote Link to comment
