Administrator AquilaTempestas Posted December 5, 2016 Administrator Report Share Posted December 5, 2016 Do you have trouble sleeping? What are your sleeping patterns like? What are good ways to get better sleep? I personally have a real problem getting a healthy night of sleep. Usually my sleeping patterns goes like this - 2 hours one night, then 10 hours, then 3 hours, 5 hours, no sleep at all, then back to about 8 hours all in one week. The cycle repeats. I get it from my mum who has terrible sleeping problems too, but my dad can sleep through anything. Quote Link to comment
Laggy
College has messed my already messed up sleep schedule further. I sleep late, wake up late, or barely sleep at all. Workload, insomnia and sleep paralysis are even worse. Can't wait for the holidays, have a month to unfuck it. MasKaiHilFantic 1 Quote Link to comment
Indigo Jupiter
I have no problem sleeping. I am pro at it. I sleep like a lot. I sleep in night, i sleep in the middle of afternoon and sometimes when i have nothing to do or simply indulging in depression, i sleep. Not only that, i can sleep anywhere, in the bed, in the car, in the couch and if brave enough, in front of teacher as well :3 It’s like a drug to me. Mum is not impressed by it. She simply blames my father side for this. For according to her, they are heavy sleepers XD Laggy, AquilaTempestas and onewiththewheels 3 Quote Link to comment
Hikari
I usually have trouble sleeping. When I try to fall asleep but can't, either go on here till I do feel tired or read. Reading is supposed to help you sleep. Quote Link to comment
onewiththewheels
I usually have trouble sleeping, but that's probably because I suffer from all the anxiety and acid reflux, and both conditions hit me at night... I also happen to be a night owl by nature, so my sleeping schedule when I'm not doing anything work related (or school related) tends to be all sorts of crazy... I still get a healthy amount of sleep though... Being a night owl sucks though, because nothing is built for us... In college, I hardly ever got the full amount of sleep, but I found out I could go without the full amount of sleep for at least a little while and be fine. Plus, I always went home and caught up on weekends. Quote Link to comment
pyrosocks
I mean, it's like I told TJ the other day in chat. I sleep when my work gets done. :$ TJMike 1 Quote Link to comment
SeleneHime
I'm fairly sure my sleeping issues are hereditary, given my mom and grandmother also have them. Generally, on nights when I can sleep without issue, I max out at 6.5 hours almost every time. Even when my body clearly needs more rest. On nights I can't sleep ... it's not unusual for me to see every hour on the clock, or to get two, three hours a night. I'm reluctant to try medication for it because I have very present examples of it being a temporary band-aide. Would rather not go back to square one and then needing medicinal influence to get what little sleep is possible in the first place. So far what I've been doing to try to stay asleep is using essential oils, and they're at least helping some. Quote Link to comment
Beywriter
I personally need a good 8-10 hours or I get cranky... Quote Link to comment

Gods, I can relate :/ My situation is quite similar, but not so extreme because there are some uncommon random days where I sleep for ~9-10 hours without meaning to. I might look into that essential oils thing. Thanks :3 Quote Link to comment

yewonthetrashcan
Oh, sleep? What's sleep? This year was honestly the first time I stayed up past midnight because of school since the day my big English term paper was due back in sophomore year. And I've done that countless times.....even missed 2 Mondays of school, plus a Friday, because I couldn't get out of bed and drive properly. Before that I used to go to bed promptly at 10:30...... onewiththewheels and Wizarmonfan 2 Quote Link to comment
Board Moderator Wizarmonfan Posted December 19, 2016 Board Moderator Report Share Posted December 19, 2016 I've done several 12-1am stunts before. Once I even went past 1am and thought bugger it, may as well stay up. So when 6 arrived, I staggered out of my room, eyes bloodshot feeling bone dead weary. Quote Link to comment
onewiththewheels
Trying to get my sleep schedule back to normal because I have a job coming up in a few weeks that requires me to start in early morning... Emphasis on *trying*... Also because of certain health issues mentioned earlier, I have trouble getting to sleep which is a problem when I need nine hours to actually feel human... Nocturna
I used to have huge problems sleeping However, amusingly enough, since I developed Anxiety I sleep way easier and sometimes fall asleep and forget to turn the TV off XD Must be because it always makes me feel exhausted. However I can not sleep at all if it's cold or I'm not sleeping in my own bed. Learnt that the hard way when I slept over at my sister's XD Not even a minute's sleep and I was knackered all day. But when I'm at home and cozy in my own bed, sleep is easy to come by Quote Link to comment
onewiththewheels
Getting better at waking up at earlier times... Still I have sleeping difficulties, though... Quote Link to comment
Board Moderator Wizarmonfan Posted December 21, 2016 Board Moderator Report Share Posted December 21, 2016 Most of the time, I have good nights, only going to the toilet once or twice. It's the 3+ times that annoy me, cause I'm tired in the morning. Quote Link to comment
onewiththewheels
And I miss the time I wanted to wake up at by half an hour... Thankfully, there was nothing important going on... Quote Link to comment
TheWaffleKing
I have no problems. As soon as I lay down I fall asleep. Getting up is a different story. Quote Link to comment

Beywriter
Ok, we know that insomnia is that little "pleasure" that can stop us getting a good nights rest. Mine despite being medicated looks like its getting worse. So I ask, what are your best tips for beating insomnia and falling asleep?? Your "works like a charm every time" strategy? Hikari
Haha, for the longest time, I had a large stack of stuffed animals on my bed, stuffed in the corner. I'd always try to make a mini fort out of them until I felt tired. If I still didn't, I'd try to stick my book and my head in with a flashlight to try to read. Reading has helped me with sleep a lot though. It's proven that it helps! Seriously! Lol Quote Link to comment
Telli21
What used to work for me was this holistic thing my mom read. Drink this stuff called tart cherry juice, you can get it online and it knocks you out really good. Doesn't work for me anymore but it used to work wonders! Hope this helps. Quote Link to comment
belmakori
I used to use lavender oil for my kids, when they were younger. It still works today. You rub some lavender oil on the bottom of your feet just before bed. You'll pass out in no time. Quote Link to comment
